Allergic ailments have increased dramatically in Western industrialised nations over the last few decades. According to the Robert Koch Institute, 13% of children and 20% of adults already suffer from allergic rhinitis. Early and consistent treatment is important to prevent these diseases from progressing.

The course of these diseases can vary in speed and severity, especially in the case of allergic ailments. It is therefore important to recognise and treat them early on. The earlier they are detected, the better the treatment options.

During a thorough preliminary examination, we will discuss the following questions, among others:

1. When did the symptoms first appear?

2. Are there also symptom-free periods?

3. Do you suspect or know of a trigger for the symptoms?
On what occasions do the symptoms occur?

4. Describe the symptoms.

5. How severe or debilitating would you say the symptoms are?

Modern testing methods enable us to accurately diagnose your specific problem. We will decide which test to use for your allergic problem after the preliminary consultation.

• · Prick test (on the skin)

• · Scratch test (on the skin)

• · RAST (antibody test in the blood)

• Rhinomanometry (The airflow from each nostril is measured individually. To determine how much the allergy is impairing your breathing, we gently irritate your nasal mucous membrain with the allergen. Then we measure your nasal breathing again.)

We will then select the best form of therapy for you, tailored to your lifestyle and the specific allergy.
